Five 1.5 ml samples, one of each fragrance in the range. Enough of each to wear it properly for a few days before you decide on a bottle. The sensible way to start, and the sensible gift when you don't know what someone wears.

• Oud Absolu, the dark one. Oud and sweet wood, the heaviest in the range.
• Grasgróinn, green and ozonic, with vanilla underneath.
• White Tea Del Mar, bright and coastal, with a salt edge.
• Verdant Zen Brew, garden green to open, turning earthy.
• Luminous Petal Tea, Earl Grey, herbs and moss.

How to test them

One at a time, and on skin. Paper holds the top notes and drops everything else. Two in a session is the limit; after that your nose stops telling them apart. Ignore the first ten minutes: the opening is the most volatile part and won't last. Around the fourth hour a fragrance settles into what it will be for the rest of the day, and that's the version worth judging.

What 1.5 ml gives you

Five to eight wearings, depending on how heavily you apply. Enough to wear one across a working week and find out whether you still want it on Friday.

A full bottle starts at 1000 DKK, so the box costs rather less than choosing wrong.
